The foundation is established with a profound awareness of the various existing initiatives supporting the Christian East—some of which are deeply historic—and with a firm commitment not to overlap with them in any way. Instead, it regards these endeavors with great respect, deep admiration, and a spirit of collaboration.

The foundation, in fact, emerges with a distinct and specific focus on two factors powerfully impacting the present and the future of Christian communities in the Middle East: geopolitics and economy. Other interconnected domains—education, leadership, heritage—are inextricably linked to these primary spheres and are thus necessarily also integral to its activities.

In all these domains, Pro Oriente Christiano will mobilize financial resources at the international level, which will be channeled into programs and initiatives that will support and sustain the Christian presence in the lands where Christianity was born and evangelization started.

The foundation will also directly coordinate and oversee the implementation of the funded activities by local actors, ensuring full adherence to professional and accountability standards.

Pro Oriente Christiano aims to bridge the gap between Eastern Christian communities on one side and global actors and individuals and organizations capable of impactful engagement on the other, fostering crucial connections. It will achieve this by bringing together leaders and experts from international organizations, governments, churches, the private sector, academia, civil society and the media, and leveraging its extensive network among Christian communities in the Middle East.

This collaborative platform will provide a confidential space to convene, discuss, explore new approaches, pioneer innovative ideas, and generate actionable solutions to champion the rights, ensure the safety, and promote the socio-economic development of Middle East Christian communities.

Although no longer a majority, Christians in the Middle East have long played a key role in their societies. Therefore, the foundation’s objective to preserve and uplift their communities will generate positive ripple effects, benefiting all components of the social and cultural fabric in the broader region.
