Bolstering the Geopolitical Standard

The Foundation’s first purpose is to raise greater attention and commitment from geopolitical actors to safeguard Christian communities in the Middle East and protect their rights. This aligns with a historically consolidated practice, though recently it has been dangerously abandoned or at the best significantly diminished.

The mission of the Foundation rests upon the premise that the evolving global scenario will provide enhanced scope to leverage geopolitical dynamics to orient key actors to make the protection and promotion of Middle Eastern Christian communities a more prominent and relevant issue in international affairs.

It is noteworthy that the undertaking to bring the issue of Middle Eastern Christians to geopolitical prominence occurs at a momentous time. Therefore, questions of what relevance must be given to certain issues and what solutions are best and/or morally right will likely be brought back into geopolitical discourse and to international negotiation tables.

The Foundation’s endeavor to enhance geopolitical focus and substantive assistance for Christians in the Middle East primarily concerns the countries with an ancient Christian tradition, where awareness of the Middle East as the cradle of Christianity was once clearer and more deeply felt, both in society and at the leadership level; hence a special bond of solidarity and gratitude with the descendants of the communities from which the primary and most impactful wave of evangelization originated, providing the foundation for subsequent, thus shaping or influencing the history, culture, and ethos of many nations.

The temporal distance from the Christianization of the Greco-Roman world by members of Middle Eastern Christian communities should not erase gratitude: the freedoms, order, stability, and well-being of many nations are still founded on the basic values that come mainly from the Christian heritage—which therefore still today continues, sometimes imperceptibly, i.e. from the cultural bedrock, to nourish the social life and inform consciences, enabling them, inter alia, to act responsibly according to the true demands of justice.
